George Robert Campbell Johnson was born in 1889 in Hillgrove, New South Wales to Arthur Albert Alexander Johnson and Sarah Ann Pitts. He was known as Curly due to his curly hair.
Hillgrove was a gold mining town that had been established 5 years before Curly's birth and named Hillgrove the year before he was born. He married Naomi Lanham Hughes on the 30th of May 1916 in Queensland. They had 6 children. In 1917 his daughter Joan Josephine Johnson was born. In 1918 he and Naomi had a daughter named Daphne Ellen Johnson. Daphne passed away in 1919. In 1924 his daughter Naomi Elizabeth (Betty) Johnson was born. About 1928 his son Arthur Whiting Johnson was born. |
