Elsie May Mowlam, sometimes spelled Mowlan, was born in 1906 in Portsmouth, England to George Arthur Mowlam and Louisa Kate Lewis.
Her father George died in 1923.
She married Cecil Noel Vining on the 5th of June 1926 at St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, Australia. At the time of her marriage she was living at 13 Best St, Woolloomooloo. Sadly, her mother had passed away 3 days before her wedding.

Elsie was living at Best St, East Sydney at the time and was working as a laundress. Elsie and Cecil had 1 child; Norman Allan Vining. Elsie and Cecil separated and later divorced.
In 1938 she married Frank Eric Rickards in Sydney. Frank had also been married once before, to Iris Edna Hambley (married in January 1927, divorced in October 1934).
Elsie and Frank lived at 14 Hannan Street, Darlinghurst. Frank died on the 29th of April 1944 aged 36 years. |
On the 5th anniversary of Frank’s death, Elsie, along with Frank’s family, put the following notices in the newspaper.
In 1951 she married John Gilbert Farrell in Sydney.
John died on the 13th of February 1971 aged 62 years. He was living at 25 Hextol Street, Croydon Park at the time.
Elsie died in 1991 aged 85 years. She was living at Croydon Park at the time.
